City Venue Management (CVM) owns and operates a range of large aquatic centres, health clubs and private swimming schools. Founded 25 years ago, CVM manages 32 venues across South-East Queensland, each a vital community-focused centre designed to inspire healthy and active living. CVM also owns and operates a range of brands, including Rackley Swimming, Fish N Flips, City Aquatics, City Health and City Sport.
Before foundU, CVM operated with a manual employee onboarding and offboarding process. As they scaled their workforce, this process became very labour intensive for their HR team and had a detrimental impact on their employee experience. They wanted an end-to-end solution that could handle the entire employee life cycle.
Nicky Sloan, Chief People Officer for CVM, reports that foundU has enabled them to streamline the employee life cycle, improved the overall employ experience and employee happiness. Keep reading to find out more!
Manual onboarding and offboarding
Across its 32 venues, CVM manages a large casual workforce of over 1,000 employees.
Before implementing foundU, CVM operated with a manual employee onboarding and offboarding process. As they scaled their casual workforce and added more venues to their portfolio, this process became very labour intensive for their human resources team and had a major impact on their employee experience.
"With a scaling workforce, the employee onboarding and offboarding processes were very labour intensive for our human resources team," Nicky said.
"We wanted an end-to-end platform that could handle the entire employee life cycle."
Referred to foundU by a colleague, CVM quickly saw the benefits and began implementing foundU across their business.
"Despite the complexity of our business, with a large casual workforce with multiple role allocations across multiple venues, the implementation was very easy and seamless," Nicky said.
"We did have a few issues with reporting due to our specific business needs. The team at foundU worked with us to understand our needs and develop functionality that would help us achieve what we needed. This support has continued throughout our four-year journey with the platform - the support and responsiveness of the team is exceptional and a point of difference."
Improving the employee experience
Since introducing foundU, Nicky says that CVM has been able to streamline the employee life cycle, while improving their experience and overall happiness.
"With the implementation of foundU, we have been able to streamline the employee life cycle," Nicky said.
"This has given our human resources team the ability to focus on people, as opposed to admin. The employee experience has improved overall, with all touch points now efficient and simple. Even employee happiness has improved - we've removed the pain points and complexity to their onboarding, rostering and payment processes."
Nicky also says the foundU platform has given them confidence in the face of major financial events like payroll audits and End of Financial Year.
"Compliance management across our business was a major challenge - but we now have 100% confidence in our rostering, qualification management and payroll processes," Nicky said.
"Our human resources team used to dread End of Financial Year, as it was time consuming and laborious. Since implementing foundU, we have been able to streamline the process for both our HR team and employees."
For businesses like theirs, with a large complex workforce and multiple venues, Nicky says that implementing foundU is a no-brainer.
"I have and will continue to recommend foundU," Nicky said.
"Having an end-to-end platform with the ability to integrate with our other platforms is key. foundU's support function is a huge point of difference, and the fact that they are open to building new functionality to meet our needs is incredible."
